| Question | Answer |
| How do I add links to my post? | It's easy - just paste in your link - remember to include the http:// bit too. |
| Why are some of my predicted times highlighted in red on my training log? | Those are the ones that are a slightly more accurate prediction due to you having covered at least 50% of the distance. |
| I can't find my race in the listings. How do I get it added? | When you use the Race Finder, there's a link just above the map saying "Can't Find Your Race?" Click that. |
| Why do my uploaded photos come out as completely black? | The thumbnails of some of your pics come out as black or discoloured. This happens when you upload GIF images, which our system can't handle quite right. Your pics are still there, it's just that the smaller version is black. |
| How do I do smileys? | The following symbols, but without the gaps. : - ) : - ( : - P * heart * ; - ) |
| How do I create click-able links? | Just post the entire URL including the http:// bit and Fetch will do it automatically for you. E.g. http://www.fetcheveryone.com/ |
| Where can I find the suggested pace times for races? | If you go to the Calculator's page - http://www.fetcheveryone.com/training-calculators-trainingpace.php and use the Training Pace Calculator, input a recent race time and this will give you training paces for various sessions, based on your actual race time / desired race time |
| how do i show my pace etc in miles rather than kilometres? thanks | Go to your training log, and on the right hand side is a box saying "Useful Stuff" and it should say "Prefer Miles?", click that link and Bob's your uncle. |
| Why doesn't (o)(o) come up with a smiley? | Sensible questions only purleeease! |
| Is it possible to import data into my running log? I'm moving my training log from the cool running site and have it saved as a .cgi or excel file. Also i'm having a problem putting data in some bespoke areas of the log - I enter it, update the log, but then nothing is in the box. Any ideas? Thanks! :o) | I believe that there is a way to do this from an excel file. However, this is not "available generally" and you should send Fetch an fmail directly and ask for help directly. |
| Just a thought - I'm in 'event details' - Is it possible to order the Fetchies by 'Predicted Time' or 'outcome'. That way you can look at Training etc. for fetchies that hit your predicted time or one better than expected, also of course, you'll have a Fetchie race winner! | I believe this is a suggestion for the site rather than a question. Sorry! |
| is there a way to see which shoes i've run in in the 'your training log' page without going into each run individually? ta | Not yet, but you could add that as a suggestion here: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/article-view.php?id=86 |
| Is it possible to be notified when there's comments on blogs which you've posted on? | No, there is not currently an option to be notified of this. |
| Is there a way to change the distance to miles rather than km? | If you go into your training log, there is a box titled 'useful stuff' on the right hand side. You can change to KM/Miles there. |
| Do you ship merchandise to the US? I'm interested in some Fetch clothing. | Pop an Fmail to fetcheveryone and don't forget to ask nicely. |
| Is it possible to type in a link to my training page so that when I e-mail a buddy or someone else that I can direct them directly to my training page (or possibly another page I want them to see)? | Yes just copy and paste the URL into the Fmail message composer and make sure you have given your buddy permission to view your training log (People > Buddy List). |
| How do you get a line break to appear in the notes section of the training log? All my lines merge together. | Use the html tag < b r > without the spaces. Pretty. |
| quick question about time predictions on the training log - can you tell me why some of the times are red please? I can't work it out. cheers | It means that you've run at least half the distance so it's a reasonable prediction of how you'd do in a race. |
| what does the FS in front of my name mean? | It means you are a female and a senior in race category. Ladies turn to Vet at 35. Men at 40. So you are a lady under 35. :-) |
| Where do I set my timezone; I've notice that my posts are tagged an hour later then the time I post them? | We're all currently on GMT/BST (server maintenance activities notwithstanding) and there is currently no facility to adjust your time zone. You could give this thread a boing: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=11262&page=2 or add it to the 'To Do' article: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/article-view.php?id=86 |
| Is there a way to log am and pm training from the same day | You can log as many training entries as you like on any given day. There's a time box where you can enter the time you did the training, so that should help. |
| When I select a particular route that I've run it shows Times run; Course times and Fastest. Is it possible to view similar data for routes that I've cycled? | No, although this is predominantly a running site you could suggest it as an enhancement in the To Do article and make a case for it in the talk section. |
| Is there a way to see if there have been (and if so, how many) new posts on a given thread since you last looked? | You can add the thread to your favourites and a count of additional posts will accumulate in the right hand sidebar under 'your topics'. |
| Hello - any "mileage" in my suggestions to 1. Customise your home page to display Race Portfolio (or other things people fancy) instead of PBs ? Reason being that PBs aren't a frequent thing to worry about - sadly. 2. Display Minute/Mile Pace on race portfolio (and others) Dom | Hello you too. There's an article to which you can add suggestions for the development of the site: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/article-view.php?id=86 or you could float the ideas in a new thread. If you create a new thread, please do so in the 'website' category of the 'talk' section. |
| Can I go back and look at my log from 2005 and 2006? | yes. You can look at any month or the whole year, just click on the monthly or yearly totals at the top of the training log page. |
| re log from 2005 and 2006, there aren't tabs or totals for those years. But I know I ran then cos runs appear on the graph pages. | At the top of your training log there should be years, months and below those clickable numbers (miles or km). If they aren't there and you definately have put the training in then I think you need to get Fetch himself to take a look at your training log. Message him via feedback form. HTH. |
| I guess the answer is 'cos this is a running site predominantly no, but is there any way to reflect the totals of Bike and Swim better in the "training league" and Summary graphs? It looks like I'm a low trainer as I only do 1/3rd of sessions as running. Great site. Andy | 'cos this is a running site predominantly ;-) No seriously, that suggestion has already been added to the 'To Do' article. Another thread on it in the training category of the talk section might help gather the tri clan to your cause. |
| I have uploaded a picture but it is not now showing in "your photos". I have tried to refresh the page and that does not work. I don't get an error message when I try to upload. Any ideas? | The function is working. Ensure that the picture is in the correct format and that you have enough space left in 'Your Photos'. |
| Hi. None of the route maps (including to create my own route) open when I click on the appropriate buttons. Please help. | Please describe precisely what happens when you press the buttons. Does the page load but there are grey boxes where the maps should be? If so, check your browser settings and check that the latest level of the mapping plugin is installed. If not, create a thread in the 'website' category of the 'talk' section and Fetch's nerdiest geeks will spring to your aid. |
| Is there anyway I can see my weight on a graph? Or can it only be viewed as a column of numbers? Cheers. | No. You could suggest that in the 'Fetch - To Do?' article though. Alternatively, cut and paste the data from the screen into a spreadsheet and graph it offline. |
| How do i Create a trining plan for an upcoming event | You can't create a plan (http://www.fetcheveryone.com/training-plan.php) for a specific race but you can work the dates out and manualy transfer the appropriate schedule into it with your race date in mind. |
| Why do some of the runs show times in red, and others show them in black? What is being highlighted? | That you've completed at least half the distance on which Fetch's prediction is based. |
| Can I down load my runs direct from my garmin 305? | Use the search facility to find references to 'Hollybar'. It only works for internet explorer at the moment and is not part of the site but a toolbar built and maintained by uberfetchie, Hollywood. |
| Can I change the distance on the main training log page from kilometers to miles ? | In the right hand sidebar of your Training Log under 'useful stuff' is a link marked either 'prefer miles?' or 'prefer kilometres?'. Click it to your heart's content. |
| Isn't it about time this was updated? :-) And with the ever growing number of Fetchies, additionally have separate lists of the most popular races by distance (popular distances) or country/area? Thanks. | Yes, and it probably will be quite soon. On the list thing, this is a suggestion that could be added to the 'To Do' article as it would require functional development of the site. |
| If people have run the same distance this month as me then what else determines what order people are in the league? | The mileage total displayed in the league is rounded up. The positions of Fetchies with the same mileage is determined by the fractions of miles they've logged up to that total. In the event of a tie on fractions, it'll be down to the sequence in which the Fetchies' records appear in the query, either alphabetical on their name or numerical on user ID. We refer to this ambiguity and the comfort of not really caring too much about it as 'Fetch Magic'. |
| I can't move or copy sessions to different days. I can drag, but they won't drop! Wait! - that's not a question is it? (but that is!) | The function is working. Please check your browser settings. Wait! That wasn't an answer, more of a standard IT support fob-off. |
| I cant seem to be able to add talk threads as favs :-( | You've raised this on the main 'talk' page but you have to add threads to favourites from the link within the thread. Look at the top left corner. If that doesn't solve it, create a thread in the 'website' section and describe what happens in detail for more help. |
| How do I get my training runs from Jan 2008 onwards appear on a "miles in month" calender style graph like I could in 2007 ? | Hi, go to "Train", click "summary" and then on the right hand side there is a box saying "prefer graphs" - click the "graphs page" link at that should give you what you need. |
| Is it possible to view someone elses ranking chart? | No. You could add that as a suggestion on the 'To Do' article. |
| what are the general ideas about shoe life. Is the weight of the runner a factor? I am a 13 stone female in 2120s so they get a hammering! | This issue could be the subject of heated debate in the kit category of the talk section. There are some shoe-related things afoot as the manufacturer and model fields on Fetchie profiles have recently been tidied up. Should be very interesting. |
| How do I enter my PBs? | Use the race finder to identify the events in which your PBs were set. Add them to your portfolio using the handy link and put your time in. If your PBs were set in races not included in the current list of events, add them and follow the same process. When you've done this, shiny PBs will be displayed in your profile automatically. |
| how do you delete comment from training log that was put in by error | There isn't a user facility to do this (same for blog and picture comments) so you could ignore the erroneous comment or send Fetch an Fmail if it really really bothers you. |
| I found out about your site while I was working in the UK before Christmas - so I signed up while i was still over there. I have come back to Australia to work now and when i try to look at the maps all I get is a blue screen where the map should be? thanks Grainne | Your browser may not have the GMaps plugin required to display the map images installed. Try looking at http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ and see if you have the same issue. Alternatively, you've provided an unrecognised postcode in your profile and Fetch now believes you live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. |
| Please could we have spellcheck on compose emails as my spelling is horenndos!! | Yes it is. Fetch doesn't have a spellcheck built in but you can install one in your browser and check every word you type on t'nternet. It may not work for squee, eeep or (*)(*). |
| Is there a quick way to record that a route has been run in the opposite direction, without entering it as a completely new route from scratch? | No. It would be the same mileage, elevation and everything though. You'd have to create a new route plotted in the reverse of your original. |
| How do I add my personal bests? | Use the race finder to identify the events in which your PBs were set. Add them to your portfolio using the handy link and put your time in. If your PBs were set in races not included in the current list of events, add them and follow the same process. When you've done this, shiny PBs will be displayed in your profile automatically. |
| Shoe tracker does not appear to be working properly. I use 2 pairs of shoes, one for long runs and the other for short runs. When I look in individual pages for particular training runs, it keeps saying 'Brooks Trance 6' even when I selected 'Brooks Trance 7'. Even when I then edit it to the Trance 7's, and then check it, it still says 'Trance 6'. Now I'm not sure whether the total figures for shoe mileage is correct. | The 'Brand' field has recently been created to separate the name of the shoe manufacturer from additional model/ serial number/pet name descriptors. Check that all your shoes are named and described correctly in your shoe information screen and review each run in which you recorded their use. If the problem is still apparent, create a thread in the 'website' category of the 'talk' section and see if others are experiencing the same thing. |
| Why are all my runs on the log showing I was wearing Brooks Vapour 7? They have not been selected as defaults but somehow each time I go back and check every run shows Vapour 7. | The brand and model fields have recently been separated. Make sure that the manufacturer's name is the only value in the brand field and that the model field contains any additional description. You can access your shoe information from your 'shoe tracker' box in the right sidebar of your training log. |
| How do you register tow people on from one e-mail address? | Email address is used with your password in the logon procedure to identify you. Also, please refer to the terms and conditions. A unique email address is the means by which information affecting your individual use of the site will be made so it is not possible to share an address with another user. New email adresses are simple and quick to create using either your ISP's instructions or registering with one of many free web-based email providers. |
| Should I put races in the training log as well as the distance covered in these doesn't seem to automatically added tothe otals for the month | Yes, you should. They're seperate because, among other things, courses may not measure accurately and you may wish to log aspects of the race such as shoe mileage, heart rate and splits thatr you can't store in your race portfolio. |
| I want to redo my plan from scratch. Can I clean out my plan in one go? | No, but that's something that could be suggested in the To Do article. |
| One of my pbs has not come up on my profile, althought it is entered in my race portfolio, what should I do? | It isn't listed as an official PB race. If you think it really should be one, create a thread in the 'website' section and ask for it to be changed. |
| What's up with the routes page? i can't get it to load properly. I've tried on my PC at home and on 2 different computers at work, which are on 2 different servers, so it seems to be a problem your end. I need to know how far I ran at the weekend! : ) | At a pinch you could use GMaps pedometer which has the same route mapping functionality. Check your browser settings and make sure you have the latest level of the mapping plugin installed. |
| add a buddy | Go to the member's profile page by clicking their name, if you can't find their name anywhere, use the search in the top right hand corner. Type in your intended buddies name, click on the users tab to sort the results and select their name. When on their profile pace, under their name is a link to "add as a buddy". They will then appear on your buddy list which can be found under the "people" tab. |
| Both a friend and I have joined we live less than 1km away from each other but can't see each other on the lists have we missed something? | Check that both of you have entered your postcodes correctly in the 'settings' page of the 'About You' section. |
| How do I delete my pictures | Click on 'Gallery' and select the 'Your Pictures' link. The there is an option underneath each image to delete it. |
| I have entered my first run on this site for January, but it doesn't show up in my summary. I have put two runsin, one on monday of 6 miles, and one today of 5 miles. My year summary just says I have done 5 miles. Can this be fixed? | Yes it can. Please check that you've entered the details of your runs correctly, refresh your browser cache (shift+f5) then pop an Fmail to fetcheveryone if the symptoms persist. |
| How do I diarise a race. I want to enter the Brighton & Hove UK Time Trial but not have to enter it 53 times for the year :-( | You're going to run the same race every weekend? Being pedantic, time trials aren't really races but if you want to treat them as such, you'll have to add each one seperately. Not a bad idea for a 'website' thread though, as there several other events of a similar ilk (BPTT leaps foremost to mind). |
| is there a way to search for individual members ty | Use the search function in the top right function and then when the results come up there is a "users" tab to bring up all of the users with that name or similar |
| Numpty Newbie Question. I started using the site about 10 days ago (great site by the way!) and it appears that my training for January has disappeared. When I go to my training log there are no links to get back to January training and the summary page doesn't come up with anything either. Total training miles for January appear in the training league so those miles must be there somewhere! What am I doing wrong? Thanks | Fmail fetcheveryone as this looks like a problem specific to you. He has a magic wand and a selection of herbs for just such an occasion. |
| Similar question as above - can drag sessions over but they wont drop into new slot? Any suggestions - also in the Total column I have for example the number 3 but I have 4 plans for that week - why is this? thanks | When you drag the training session, make sure your mouse pointer thingy (mine is a little hand) goes right over the date you are dragging it to, not the little FE sign. The total on my plan refers to the total number of miles I've planned. How many miles have you got planned for that week? |
| how do I enter injuries? | Click on "injury" on the black header bar and underneath on the grey bar is "add injury" - select the category, enter the description and submit. |
| how do you bet on someone and how does 'betting' work on here/ | A splendid explanation is given on the 'Place Bet' screen in the Games section. |
| Firstly, why can't I add a plan entry for today. Secondly, I'm having the same problems as 2 of the users above. I can't drag and drop or copy. I was able to do this previously. My browser settings haven't changed. Can you advise what settings I should check to make it compliant with your website? | Firstly, because you should be out there doing it already! Secondly, check that your browser is at the latest available level. If that doesn't fix it, let fetcheveryone know via the gift of Fmail, making sure to tell him which browser you're using. |
| Why doesn't the Fetch Everyone site include my other exercise distances? It only seems to add up the running distance. I'm just beginning my Tri training and would be good to see swim, bike and rowing distances as well. | Fetch has recently added bike and swim leagues and there are suggestions in the To Do article for enhancements to the logs for tri disciplines. The training log is likely to remain more functionally rich for running as that's what we all do. |
| How do I see my split times in a graph? | Enter them according to the instructions in the appropriate field on 'Add Training' then view your log and select the 'Splits' tab. |
| Fetch, I've just tried entering some training for today, clicked on submit, but the training doesn't appear in my log. I've tried it twice with the same result. Help!! | There was a bug caused by the addition of (*)(*) tracking functionality which was present when you asked the question. Raised on this thread: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=12660&page=1 and fixed almost immediately. Please check your log and try again. |
| I've tried to enter some of my PBs but I keep getting a message - that's a bit fast have you got the hours and minutes in the correct boxes. How do I enter these times ? | This is a known bug caused by Fetch trying to ensure that people don't enter ridiculous times even a cheetah on roller skates couldn't run. He's tidied most of it up but if the problem persits, pop him an Fmail. |
| How do I enter PBs from the past? | You have to create a race record for the event you ran in, add it to your portfolio and record your time in the normal way. |
| how do I make myself available to have bets placed on me ? | You have to enter a race of the same distance as one you've raced before i.e. have a PB to smash into a million tiny pieces for the good of mankind, the delight of your ancestors and the entertainment of you proud Fetchie fans. |
| Would it be possible to have an option for photos so that they will show up under the pictures tab in your profile but not in the public gallery - I did have some reasonable photos in my profile that people might want to see if they want to take a look at my profile page but didn't feel so comfortable having them all show in the public gallery. I suppose its a kind of halfway house to going fully public for those of us who might be a bit more reticent. I'll understand if I might be breaking the philosophy of the site by suggesting this MisterB | The 'To Do' article is the place for suggestions. You could also see if there is wider support for the idea by creating a thread in the 'Website' section of the forum to discuss it. At the moment, you've only got the option to keep images private (only visible to yourself) or share them in the public gallery. |
| Hi All. I have just bought a heart rate monitor and I have a question. It is why my heart rate 165 when I am warmed up and just cruising along. I can still talk but it just verges on puffing. I feel no distress and just ran a half marathon averaging 165. I felt fine. So why do all the graphs and books tell me I am way above the rate I should be at, they say 161 is my extreme rate but I just cruise comfortably at it. What is the rule of thumb for heart rates for people in shape? | Please refer to the following thread in the 'Training' section: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=3882&category=training |
| I have done a race & over 100miles training how do I get ranked | If you've entered your race time in your portfolio (as well as your training log!) then you will be automatically ranked. Might be worth checking if the race you've completed is listed as an 'official PB' event. Ranking doesn't take training mileage into account. |
| How do I add a description to my threads when I start one? | Create it first, then use the 'Thread Admin Stuff' box in the right hand sidebar to give it a description. |
| How do the Club records get updated? I can't find any way of doing this so I deduce it must be automated in some way. | Everyone who's a member (i.e. have recorded their membership on Fetch) of the same club has their PBs compared to produce the 'club record' time for popular distances. |
| i have just entered some of the next few weeks. i clicked on save the changes and it all seems to have disappeared. can i only view this now by looking at my training log on each day? | Are you sure you clicked on 'Save Your Changes'? All the future sessions you've planned should be visible in the time period you select. Sounds like you might have to re-enter the sessions. |
| how do i measure mileages round new routes? | Got to "Routes" and click the "add a route" tab. Navigate the map to your starting place for your route by dragging and zooming. Double click on the map for your start point and then trace your route around the map, double clicking at every turn or variance in your route. Mile markers will automatically appear as and when you reach another mile. Switch between satellite and map if you are running alonf footpaths or off road that don't show on the normal map view. When you have got to the end of your route, save it, name it and make it public if you wish. Hope that makes sense??? |
| Didn't we use to get email when we got fmail? It doesn't seem to work for me anymore and I miss it. | You can turn on email notification in your settings, under "About You". |
| I am looking for a list of UK 2008 marathons and half marathons | Although there isn't a list per say, the best thing to do would be go into "Race Finder" and change the distance of the race to 13.1m to 26.2m, the date settings to end at Dec 2008, and finally the distance from you to something like 800 miles. This will bring up pretty much every half and mara through the year in the UK, although you will get any races between those distances as well, such as 20 milers. |
| Hi just a quick one, would like torun in a couple of races near me but as they part of leicester road running league does that mean all are not welcome? | Check with the organising club's website. Some events are purely inter-club and not open to the public. If you want to do them, find your local club and think about joining. They're usually very friendly affairs and less commercial than some flashy open events. Click 'Clubs' on the main menu bar. Enjoy. |
| Dear Fetch, I am plonker. I have entered the wrong date for the London Heathside 5 Mile Road Race. I can't find a way of changing this myself so can you do it please? It should be Sunday 2 March 2008. Thanks. | Admin users can't change it so create the race record again correctly and FMail the boss to have it deleted. |
| how and why do you bet | For a giggle. It can be quite motivational to know that your PB has the credits of other Fetchies riding on it. Give it a whirl! |
| Why are the points for my last race greyed out and not affecting my overall rankings ? | Is it listed as an official PB race? If not, it won't count. |
| How do I know if a race is an official PB race ? | On the 'View Event Details' page there is a field that tells you. |
| How do i put pictures on my 'About you' page. Know its probably easy but I computer stupid!! | Go to "Gallery" on the top menu and in the grey bar underneath you will see an option to "upload a picture". Follow the instruction for uploading the picture and then choose if you want to make them public or private. All the pictures that you upload will be found on the pictures tab of your "About You" page. |
| why are some sessions highlighted in red? | If you mean the time predictions after entering something in your training log, this is because the sessions in red are more accurate than then ones in black. If you run 4 miles in training then your 5k, 5m and 10k predictions will be in red, as these should be pretty accurate. Whereas 10m, half and mara will be in black as they won't be particularly accurate, you would need to run 10 - 15 miles for a more accurate prediction. |
| I was away at the weekend, can I add a route from where I ran which was some 250 miles away from my home? | Yes, but you will have to navigate to the start point as the routes map defaults to your home location. |
| Maybe i'm missing something obvious, but didn't there used to be a page which would work out a training plan for you, once you entered how far/fast you wanted to race? could that not be linked (and automatically drop into) the Training Plan? | You'll find that in the 'Calculators' section of 'Train'. Good suggestion, float it in the threads and see if it gathers a following. |
| how do I set up calendar? | Click on 'Train' then 'Your Plan' and follow the instructions given. If you're still struggling, pop into the 'Talk' section and ask about it. |
| can't submit - get the message that the server isn't responding. This happened yesterday also. | Lots of reasons why this happens. Sometimes Fetch forgets to put 50p in the meter, sometimes the slaves don't row hard enough. Basically, there are many bits of highly technical kit between Fetchies and the mother ship. When people decide to tinker with them or there are too many people doing too many things, connections are either unavailable or very slow. Check that your machine and your connection to the internet are working and if the site still isn't available, put the kettle on. |
| How do I make my routes public after Iv uploaded them onto the routes database? Cheers Tony | Edit each route and click on the button just above the map marked 'Public' for the ones you wish to share. |
| Hi If I mark my blog as 'private' that DOES mean that people in my buddies list CAN'T read it - doesn't it? Yours anxiously Fee | Yes, that means it's only visible to you. In order to restrict access to the people you've chosen to buddy and not the whole Fetch community, set the blog privacy switch in your settings (under 'About You) accordingly. |
| i have changed my email address...how do i replace my old one with my old one? cheers.rococo | Update your email address in the 'Settings' section of 'About You'. |
| re my earlier question re the training plan - unless i'm going mad i still can't see the link. The 'calculator' page will let me calculate HR, ranking points, training pace (i.e. how much faster/slower i need to run in various ways), equivalent race times, splits, and BMI. what i was looking for was the page where you can say i'm doing a marathon in 16 weeks time and i want to train easy/hard, and it calculates "tempo run @ 9:50 pace on Monday, long run Thursday, intervals 4x1600 pace on Monday" etc. That's what i was hoping to find a link to on the training plan page, and for that to automatically drop into my personal training plan. thanks. | That functionality still requires the human touch at the moment. By using several of the planning options it can be achieved but will still require you to convert the output from the calculator into runs you can realistically manage around a hectic social calendar to produce a personal schedule. Alternatively, employ a coach to do it for you. |
| Are there any books covering training for a half marathon/marathon? | You'll need to check Waterstones or Amazon for that sort of info I'm afraid |
| How do I see last years weekly split in a graph? | That function is not available but you could export your data into Excel, filter it to include last year's training by week and graph yourself silly. |
| Can I block someone from seeing my profile or sending me Fmail? | I think you'd better send Fetch an fmail about this one, you can't do it yourself. If someone is hassling you it's worth telling Fetch, that person may be hassling someone else too. Hope you're ok. |
| How do I add a buddy | Whoever you want to make a buddy, click on their avatar (profile picture) or name and bring up their profile, just under their name an bit about themselves is a link to "add buddy", click this and Bob's your Uncle ...... or buddy :0) |
| Hi, how can i get ranked? i have entered my training schedule and over 100 miles and two recent races, but still showing not ranked. | Ranking is based on race performances only so you should be in the mix by now. Check that you've entered your races in the race section as well as recording them for training mileage purposes and if you're still not ranked let Fetch know. |
| Dear Mr. Fetch How do I post a picture in my blog? What are the six numbers for Saturday's Lottery Draw? Watford | First up, its not Mr Fetch, you'll have to make do with me! To post a picture in your blog, make sure that you have the picture loaded in your gallery. Go to your photos page and click on the said photo, and underneath the title is a number with square brackets around it. Just copy and paste this number and the brackets into your blog and when you sumit your blog, the photo will appear. I don't do the lottery numbers, so can't help you there .... although I've heard 8 is a good number :-) |
| points | where? |
| Tried to enter some duathlon and triathlon times, like similar question, I get: that's a bit fast have you got the hours and minutes in the correct boxes. How do I enter these times ? | The only parts of those events that are comparable for Fetch ranking, PB recording and WAVA grading purposes would be the running stages so they could go in as individual races with the swimming/biking/knitting captured as cross-training. Bit of a compromise but there is some debate about making the site more tri-friendly. |
| how do i get to see a list of public routes? i have put a few routes on, but on the map they all start at the same place. so when you click on the map you can only see one or two as all the dots are on top of each other. thanks hazel | There isn't a list but you can zoom the map out to show all the public routes in the whole world! Your routes are individually listed on the 'Your routes' tab from where you can edit them. As an idea, you could start your runs from slightly different places to show the dots further apart but that would be a little silly. |
| The avators on the threads don't seem to be showing up (can't see peeps picks). Have i turned them of somehow and if so how do i turn them back on? | At the bottom right on any thread page there is a box called "Useful Stuff", you can turn on user pics there. :-) |
| i have cretaed a team but no players - how do I add players | Open your intended victim's member profile page and use the linky on the right hand side to add them. |
| dont want to search . just want enter known results . how do i do that .thanks | Unless you create a race record, you can't record a race result. If it's purely for your own purposes, you can record any run as a race in your training log but your PBs won't be displayed on your profile. By creating race records you may be helping other Fetchies that took part in the same event with their nod to posterity so gwaaaan you know you want to. |
| How do you find out your body percentages of fat, muscle & water? | Scales |
| Is there a way you can import traing logs from Garmin Training Centre directly into your Fetch training log? | http://hollybar.blogspot.com/ |
| How do I search the titles and body text of articles? | With the search facility of your browser. Article titles and their contents aren't included in the 'Search EVERYTHING' function. Odd that. |
| Hi, only fetchies user names and not their avators seem to not coming up in the talk threads. I have looked to see how i switch them back on but can't see it. | On any talk thread, you should be able to see a box in the right hand bottom corner, that says "Useful stuff" in that box there is an option to show profile pics. Click that and all should be well with the world. |
| How do I add my buddies tab | You need to add buddies to get a buddy tab. Find the person that you want to make a buddy, click on their name to bring their profile page up and just below their name is an "add to buddy list" link. Click that and they will now be your buddy. To see and manage your buddies, click "People" on the black toolbar and then "buddies" on the grey toolbar below - Happy buddying |
| How do I erase my post? | Sorry, but you can't ..... take a second or two before you hit that submit button next time!! |
| How do I stop email notifications every time I get an fmail? | Go to your "Inbox" and over on the far right hand side of the page, near the bottom of the column is a "message notification" box - switch it off and on just there. |
| I'm trying to add a public route to my routes, following all the instructions, but it's not appearing in "my routes" or on the pull down menu in my training record. What am I doing wrong? | You're not clicking on 'Save Route' before navigating away from the page. |
| Is there any way I can enter my Indoors 60m and 200m times - I have got the races added to my portfolio but keep getting the 'that's a bit quick' message. I'm afraid the times ARE a bit quick becasues they're spriints..... | You can add a run of 0.06km in 6 seconds without receiving that message. Sure you're converting the distances correctly? |
| What does WAVA mean? | WAVA stands for World Association of Veteran Athletes and is basically a system for benchmarking your performance relative to the current world record, taking into account age and gender. |
| I just started using an on-line running log today, but I'd like to enter my hand-written data from the beginning of the year. Is there a way that I can add the total mileage that I have already accumulated? (Short of entering two months worth of runs individually, of course!) | You could add some really really long runs that make up the distance but that would really defeat the object. The time you invested in capturing detail on your paper log should be rewarded by making sure all of it gets into your Fetch log. Yes it will be a bit of a pain but when you look back at it, all worthwhile. Srsly. |
| OK. I'm being really thick. I've added my sports bras... but where do I add the mileage to them? | I think you can only add the mileage to them when you add each training run. It appears as a drop down next to the trainers drop down box on the training run form. |
| What does WAVA mean? | WAVA is a way of showing your age graded performance. See this website for more information: http://www.haverhillrunningclub.org.uk/agegradecalculator.html |
| How do I paste pictures into a talk thread? | The picture has to be in the gallery. Once it's in the gallery you just need to copy and paste the code that appears above it in square brackets make sure you have all of the code including the square brackets. then you paste the code and brackets where you normally type to contribute to the thread and submit as normal. :-) |
| Is it possible to edit a route, and save it WITHOUT overwriting the original route, so you end up with TWO saved routes ?? Similar to using the "Save As" option in Microsoft excel. Tony | Nope, sorry. Might be worth droping it down the well in the forum, see if it makes a splash. |
| I'm probably being really dense - how do I upload photos to my 'my pictures' section (rather than changing my profile picture). I can't seem to find it sorry :( :( | Go to the photo gallery and click on "upload a picture". |
| the avatars do not appear anymore in the threads when i look at them. is it something on my computer or can you fix it please jim? | Check the box down on the bottom right and make sure the option to view profile pics is switched on. |
| thanks for tresco marathon info | Pleasure. |
| How do you link to a picture in the gallery to have a thumbnail show in the thread and do they have to be public pictures? | Copy and paste the square bracketed number (including the brackets) and yes, they have to be public. |
| Adding Shoes. I seem to be having a problem adding shoes - either there are no manufacturers and the shoe comes up as a blank, or it goes straight to default, but then i can't add it to a training session and it doesn't show on my profile - AGH! Is it me - or is this bit just not working properly at the moment?!?!? | It's just you. There's been a lot of tinkering in that area recently but it works fine now. |
| whats this wava thats appeared | World Association of Veteran Athletes. They produce a table of modifiers which allow any age or sex to calculate their perfomance over a number of given distances as a percentage of the world's best. Fetch uses these in a mysterious and cunning way to provide yet another means by which to compare ourselves automatically. |
| I have clicked on meters rather than kilometers for a race, how do I go back and change it? Can't see an option to change milage. Race is the Wensleydale Triathlon. | Couldn't find that race so I guess it's been deleted. You'd have had to create it from scratch anyway. |
| Ummm... thanks for the answer, but there's no boulder holder drop down next to my trainer drop down menu.... any other suggestions..? | Are you a man? That's only there if your gender is that of the feminine variety. (About You, Settings, Age, Sex and Location) |
| Is it possible to show the shoes used on a run on this page? | It is not currently possible to do that. Please create a thread in the 'website' section of the forum and run it up peoples' flag poles. |
| This might just be me being stupid, but when I click to view a route that I have saved previously, it displays my route with the mile markers, but without the helpful blue line between them. It also does the same when I try to view public routes. Is there any way I can view routes with the blue line displayed, as it is really helpful?! Thanks! :-) | That's probably a local issue to your browser as the blue line between mile markers is proudly displayed on both private and public routes correctly. There's all sorts of jiggery pokery behind the map stuff so check you've got your browser patched up to the latest available level and it should work. |
| Help - my plan has disappeared and I've got FLM in 4 weeks! Where's it gone? | Don't know, possibly pilot error, possibly a tear in the space time continuum. Fmail Fetch and see if he can have a look in the engine room. Failing that, taper. |
| How do I view previous blogs? I only seem to be able to see blogs that have been posted within the last few hours. | You'll need to select a specific individual who's blog you want to read, and access it via their profile. |
| How can i upload my picture onto my profile. I've done it several times and it shows up on my messages but not when i call up my profile, it still shows no image!! | If it works as your avatar in the forum, it'll be fine as your profile pic. Refresh the page by using f5 (or ctrl-f5 for good measure) and your should see it. If that still doesn't work, drop in to any of the chat threads and someone will probably give you a helping hand. |
| Why cant i see any ones or my own Avatar on threads! | There's an option to hide or view profile pictures in the bottom box down there on the right. |
| How do i post my pbs | Record your performances in your 'Race Portfolio' there's a handy link on the front page or you can get to it from the link on the main menu bar. |
| when working out route, it shows markers on map in Miles, can this be changed to show KM for time and distance training thanks Trooper | That isn't currently available and would require Fetch to pull on his best tinkering trousers amid the Google Maps API. This and other fine suggestions for the enhancement of the routes function should be made in the website category of the forum. With the weight of public opinion and if he's not out running, your wish may come true. |
| One of my races last year is grey all the way along the line (Mortimer Forest 10). I have checked and it is an official PB race, so what is going on here? | Try it now :) |
| I want to add a comment to a buddies training? how do i do this??? cant seem to do it! | If there is no option to add a comment then it is likely that your buddy has opted to not allow comments on their training. |
| how do I find old blog titles | Blogs are not searchable. |
| How do I delete training sessions that have been incorrectly added? | Click on the 'delete this training run' link when you update each of the offending records in your log. (At the top, third one along, you can't miss it...) |
| who do i contact ref an order i placed in the fetch shop that is listed as packaged. I am still awaiting it to be sent out and the item was listed as in stock when i placed the order on the 17 Mar 08. Contact details are janecolin007@sky.com | Fetch. Bear in mind it's just him, the EU jiffy bag mountain and a roll of packing tape. The shiny loveliness of your spanking new Fetch merchandise will certainly compensate for any delay. |
| how do i print this page | There isn't a print function in the site so you'll have to make do with whatever your browser can offer. As your route list is in a table, you could copy and paste it into a spreadsheet application like Excel and print it from there. |
| How do I add my event to your race calendar? I am organising our village 11K Trail run which will take place on Sunday 27 April 2008. Many thanks. Great site! | Use this page: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/race-add.php which can be found in the race finder via the 'Can't find a race?' tab. |
| Is there an alphabetical list of members ? | There is not. However, If you're terminally bored you could paste the full rankings table into a spreadsheet and sort on name, although it would not include our non-competitive brethren. |
| We have a draw with a challenge, but the only options are win or lose, could you put a draw option in please? Ta. | Toss a coin? |
| How do I actually upload an image Thanks | Save your immage on your desktop, go to "Gallery" then "Upload a photo". Click the browse box and navigate to where you have saved your photo on your desktop and click the icon. Write something in the caption if you want to and then click "go". The photo will be saved in your photo page, but will not be published into the public gallery unless you click the "Make public" link under the photo. |
| What's an official PB course? | An official PB course is any race that has been measured and certified by the governing body. All road races should be certified, but most charity events, off road and cross country won't be. By being certified it verifies that they are the correct distance and therefore a legitimate PB. Lists of certified courses can be found here - http://coursemeasurement.org.uk/ |
| I am just over 5 feet and overweight. Other runners say I dont push myself when running but my breathing is just as laboured as theirs. will height and weight make a difference to my time. | Yes, if you are lighter then there is less to carry about and therefore you will be able to run quicker and more efficiently. This website gives and idea on the how weight effects performance - http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/weighteffect.php A word of warning, if aiming to lose weight do it sensibly and through a controlled and sensible diet! There are lots of people who can give you some tips on this site. |
| On my list of buddies if it is set to 'view' for training log next to their name (and I have clicked update) will that mean they have permission to view my full training log or do I have to do anything else to ensure that? Cheers :) | Correctamundo - they can see your training log in the same detail that you can see it. Change it to hide of you don't want your buddies to see it :-) |
| I re registered with different password. How can I put all my previous races in new portfolio? | Fmail Fetch and he'll transfer your details in a quiet moment. Prolly. Can't you simply change your previous account and add details from your new one to it? You can change pretty much everything y'know. |
| IN WAVA is a high number or low number good? | High. It means you're closer in comparison to a world record at the distance (100%). |
| How can two people with the same e-mail address set up training logs. If I try and second registration, the system rejects me. Thank you | Two people can't use one email address. See terms and conditions. |
